Job Title: Engineering Manager
Location: Wrocław, Poland
What is the role?
As the Engineering Manager of Toyota Connected Europe (TCEU)’s Wrocław branch office, your role will be crucial to the long-term success of the European software delivery business. You will use a combination of technical and people management skills to establish and grow a team of software engineers, with support from senior leadership and peer managers in London. You will be expected to encourage confident collaboration between team members in both locations and represent Toyota Connected in work with other Toyota entities.
This is TCEU’s first hire in Poland and, as such, you should expect constant change during your employment, as the team grows and matures. To begin with, some training time in London will be required.
What would you be responsible for?
Establish and grow software engineering teams. Recruit, onboard and develop engineering talent in Poland.
Provide technical direction and leadership. Support the Poland engineering team in delivering quality software to time and cost by providing technical insight, including code review, software design input and coaching of team members. Lead from the front approach.
Build a working culture that fits with Toyota and TCEU values and principles. Represent TCEU amongst other Toyota entities in Poland. Perform duties as a representative of Toyota and TCEU, implementing and sharing our company values, and applying Toyota processes such as kaizen and andon.
Line manage engineers and “dotted line” manage other roles based in the Poland branch office. Provide professional development and support to engineers. Act as first line of contact for day-to-day management for all team members in Poland.
What would we expect you to possess?
Experience:
o 7+ years of software engineering experience, with 2+ years in a leadership role in an agile environment, ideally within a scale up.
Technical Skills:
o Familiarity with software development processes and software architecture within an enterprise Java environment.
o Experience with software design patterns and software delivery work related to high-volume data streams and IOT experience a plus.
Leadership and Management:
o Proven experience leading and growing engineering teams, with a strong focus on mentorship, team development, and performance management.
Agile Methodologies:
o Solid experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, etc.).
Communication Skills:
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Polish, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
o Experience in communicating findings to non-technical stakeholders and executives.
Problem Solving Skills:
o Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a track record of delivering scalable, performant solutions.
Developing Environment:
o Experience working in high-growth or changeable environments, adapting to rapidly changing priorities, and scaling engineering operations.

Context:
Toyota Connected Europe (TCEU) was founded in London in 2019 to process and derive insights from the connected data produced by Toyota and Lexus vehicles in Europe. In 2026, with almost 3 million connected cars on the road and over 2 billion journeys processed each year, TCEU is opening a branch office in Wrocław to strengthen and scale our software and data engineering capabilities.
