Toyota Connected Europe (TCEU) is seeking an enthusiastic technology expert to join the engineering management team and play a critical role in shaping our technical vision, strategy, and execution. The role will support the company's growth and success towards our next generation of innovative products and services.
The Head of Technology will be critical to the engineering department’s efforts to recast its relationship with business functions from a technology provider to a business partner. Candidates for this position must be highly motivated, able to make data-driven decisions, and have strong management and interpersonal skills. This person will interact with a wide variety of diverse individuals, including business stakeholders and IT leadership teams across the global Toyota ecosystem.
This role reports to VP Engineering, and will be responsible for managing the solution architecture and software engineering functions.
At a high level, this role is responsible for:
Technical Leadership
Drives Technical and Architecture team to plan and deliver work in a way that’s sustainable and ensures quality.
Balances Tactical delivery with Strategic stability.
Bringing technical thinking into decisions early, not just at the delivery stage. Providing a technology roadmap that supports the business.
Spotting technical risks early and making sure governance is built in from the start.
Technical Excellence
Define and Unify technical standards that ensure our systems remain maintainable as we scale.
Ensuring the technical roadmap solves actual user problems, not just "cool" engineering challenges.
Empowers the organisation through technological innovation and process excellence to achieve a decisive competitive edge.
Talent Architecture & Cultural Leadership
Ensures project intake with resource availability to maintain high standards of delivery.
Responsible for cultivating organisational talent to ensure a high-performing and future-ready workforce.
Knowing when to upskill current employees versus when to hire new talent.
Business and Client relations
Translating complex technical risks into business impact for the Management, Customer and other business teams.
Lead and foster collaborative culture with customer technical teams and internal teams.
Customer Centricity.
What do we want to see from your application?
Proven experience in a Head of, or senior technology leadership role, within software or enterprise architecture, or software engineering.
Strong understanding of current and emerging technologies, including modern best practices in IOT, data engineering and AI.
Demonstrated success in leading software delivery teams.
Vendor management experience required.
Experience in enterprise demand management.
In-depth understanding of automotive or IOT industry preferred.
